Vedolizumab

What does it do?

Vedolizumab is used to treat inflammatory bowel disease. It reduces inflammation by blocking certain proteins in your gut.

Before you start

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

How is it given?

Vedolizumab is given as an infusion into a vein by a health professional.

What if you forget a dose?

Vedolizumab will be given to you by a health professional. If you are unable to attend an appointment, contact your health professional as soon as possible.

Can you take other medicines?

Tell your pharmacist or doctor about all medicines or treatments that you may be taking, including vitamins, herbal products or recreational drugs.

What side effects might you notice?

Reaction during the infusion including: nausea, dizziness, headache

Tell your health professional immediately

Joint aches and pains

Runny or blocked nose

Tell your doctor if troublesome

If you notice any other effects, discuss them with your doctor or pharmacist.
