Phytomenadione (liquid)

What does it do?

Phytomenadione is used to prevent or treat excess bleeding. It is a form of vitamin K. Vitamin K is used by your body to help your blood to clot.

Before you start

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

How should you take it?

Take phytomenadione as directed.
You will be given the liquid from the injection to swallow by mouth. The tablets are not available in New Zealand.

Can you take other medicines?

Tell your pharmacist or doctor about all medicines or treatments that you may be taking, including vitamins, herbal products or recreational drugs.

What side effects might you notice?

Phytomenadione is unlikely to cause any side effects. If you notice any symptoms you are concerned about, discuss them with your doctor or pharmacist.
