What does it do?

Meropenem is used to treat bacterial infections.

How is it given?

Meropenem is given as an infusion or injection into a vein.

What if you forget a dose?

The missed dose should be given as soon as possible and treatment should continue as directed. Meropenem is usually given to you by a health professional. If you miss a dose, contact your health professional as soon as possible.

Can you take other medicines?

Tell your pharmacist or doctor about all medicines or treatments that you may be taking, including vitamins, herbal products or recreational drugs.

Symptoms of allergy including: skin rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing

Symptoms of liver problems including: yellow skin or eyes, itching, dark urine, pale bowel motions, abdominal pain

Seizures

Tell your doctor immediately

Severe or persistent diarrhoea, abdominal pain

Tell your doctor

Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting

Headache

Irritation or pain at injection site

Tell your doctor if troublesome
