Fosfomycin

What does it do?

Fosfomycin is an antibiotic used to treat bladder infections that are resistant to usual treatments. It is sometimes used for other conditions.

Before you start

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

How should you take it?

Take fosfomycin as directed. Mix the contents of the sachet in half a glass of water and drink straightaway. You can take it with or without food.

What if you forget a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as possible and continue as directed.

Can you take other medicines?

Tell your pharmacist or doctor about all medicines or treatments that you may be taking, including vitamins, herbal products or recreational drugs.

  • It may take 2 to 3 days before you start to feel better. Tell your doctor if you still have symptoms after this time.
