Potassium supplements increase the amount of potassium in your body.
Take potassium supplements regularly as directed with food.
Slow release tablet: These can damage your oesophagus (food pipe). To avoid this, take it with a large glass of water. Swallow the tablet whole, do not crush or chew it. Sit or stand upright for at least 30 minutes after taking a dose.
Effervescent tablet: Dissolve in a glass of water before swallowing.
If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time. Otherwise, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not take two doses at the same time.
Some medicines available without a prescription may react with potassium supplements including:
